I am so, so sorry. Devastated beyond words. My sincere condolences. Please call me if I can do anything to help or support you and The Boys (0790 999 3093). I loved that man and will miss him terribly.
I'm so sorry to hear this sad news. I hadn't seen Charlie for many years, but he was an unforgettable part of my teenage years and I remember him with great affection. Sending love to you and your family. Fuchsia
Dear Alex, I don’t know you and didn’t k or Charles but I read his blog when a mutual friend posted it.
I was in your shoes nearly 20 years ago with two small girls. I have an inkling of the agony you must be going through and the incomprehension your children must have at what it all means.
I’d like to recommend WAY - widowed and young. It’s an amazing support organisation for people who have lost a partner before 50. It feels weird to join something like that but it saved my sanity.
There is something very reassuring about being with people who totally ‘get it’.
Be kind to yourself and don’t be afraid to ask people for help. Grief is utterly exhausting.
I am so terribly sorry for your loss. He was such a talent and a wonderful man. My thoughts are with you and your boys as you learn to live without Charlie. God Bless
So so sorry to hear this news. Charles was an incredible man, full of intelligence, humour, compassion and genuinely interested in people. Our paths met through the amazing work Charles did as Chair of Maudsley Learning CIC, later to become Mental Health at Work CIC. Without Charles, as an organisation we would not have navigated the rocky road of start ups to get to where we are now. This week we were together as a team for the first time in 2 years; a team that has grown, thrived and is a sustainable not for profit business, changing working lives around mental health every day, impacting thousands of people. I know that Charles would have loved to see that and his legacy lives on. Love and thoughts to the family, who he clearly loved dearly.
Terribly sorry to hear this. I have been admiring both his courage and the ability to write this blog. Although I live cross the "pond" I have gotten to know him much better through this, and also The Wife, who I never met, and The Boys, plus JJ of the wet nose coming between you. I am very pleased that he got his book published and could send it out. It is very good! I suspected it might be after reading the blog. The man could write! Not surprising given his background. My love to all the family. I too was recently widowed, and know the enormous gap it leaves in everyday life. But I am a generation older, so it was to be expected.
Keep your chin up and just remember him at his best. Love, Aunt Diana
Sending every sympathy to you all at this heart-breaking time, Alex.
Charles stuck up for me at work when I was in a vulnerable position at the OU and it really mattered. I know he consulted with you about it. So thank you, and even though I don’t know you directly I will always think so highly of both of you. xx
Charlie was legend when we worked together at the OU. We had great fun delivering presentations together to a largely unsuspecting audience. He gave me advice, support, friendship and a decent pint. Be proud, be strong, be more Charlie.
So sad to hear and my heart goes out to you all. Charlie will be greatly missed. He's had a huge impact on so many: family, friends, those he worked with and those he never met, people who heard him speak and those who read his words. Such a loss of such a brilliant man. Sending love to all the family and friends.
So very very sorry to hear your devastating news. Sending you all our heartfelt condolences. I too had the pleasure of working with Charlie at RM and remember his rapier wit&dry sense of humour....as well as his brilliance. Much love. Lindsay

My sincere condolences. I wish you and your two sons all the strength you need in these challenging times. Charles and I worked together in an educational project in London's City some 22 years ago - I will never forget his sense of humour and determination. I am deeply impressed by both content and style of his writing, it has been truly inspirational. In my mind, Charles will always stay alive! All the best, Christine
